Horse Advice

Poem, penlighten.com:

Boot and Saddle by Robert Browning

Boot, saddle, to horse, and away!

Rescue my Castle, before the hot day

Brightens the blue from its silvery grey,

(Chorus) “Boot, saddle, to horse, and away!”

Ride past the suburbs, asleep as you’d say;

Many’s the friend there, will listen and pray

“God’s luck to gallants that strike up the lay,

(Chorus) “Boot, saddle, to horse, and away!”

Forty miles off, like a roebuck at bay,

Flouts Castle Brancepeth the Roundheads array;

Who laughs, Good fellows ere this, by my fay,

(Chorus) “Boot, saddle, to horse, and away!”

Who? My wife Gertrude; that, honest and gay,

Laughs when you talk of surrendering, “Nay!

I’ve better counsellors; what counsel they?”

(Chorus) “Boot, saddle, to horse, and away!”

The horse is a means of travel, of transport – speedy and reliable – for humankind. It is also an animal of duty and service. With a huge heart for stamina, it represents love, movement, and freedom.

ADVICE: It may be a time for you to expand your heart for noble aspirations. Let yourself, and others around you be free – free to let down their mane, swish it about, and be themselves. Free to move, free to dance, free to run. Don’t burden people excessively, but do thank them for their assistance with loving words. And you, carry your share of the load and don’t get on your ‘high horse’ about it. Mutual respect and appreciation forge true and long friendships.

“The wagon rests in winter, the sleigh in summer, the horse never.” – Yiddish Proverb
