Owl Advice

Poem, 19 February 2012, owlpoems.tumblr.com:

A Knowing Look by Michael “Z” Goddard

Old being, old thing,

so stout and wise.

You look down from the tree,

Knowing that I am here.

You stare long

You stare hard

And never look away.

You remember don’t you.

Peer at something else and

This spirit you see standing,

May well disappear.

The owl represents the wise teacher, hooting messages of direction and communication. Otherworldly, it’s large eyes see all – and more! In the night, it watches with clear and sharp vision, and listens intently with acute hearing, for any movement. When it sees its prey, it silently swoops and clutches it with its claws; precisely, stealthily, the master of surprise.

ADVICE: It may be a time for you to communicate your knowledge clearly to others, to be a teacher or a mentor. Alternatively, you may be drawn to study, to learn more, to master more. It is a time of change; new learnings, new beginnings, maybe after a time of secrecy. Surprise someone with your intentions or with your new knowledge. Now, you clearly see the truth; you have an understanding of facts that were previously kept in the dark. You know who needs to know. Who? Who? Reveal all.

“Every night the owl with his wild monkey-face calls through the black branches, and the mice freeze and the rabbits shiver in the snowy fields – and then there is the long, deep trough of silence when he stops singing, and steps into the air.” – Mary Oliver
